#Paddle2Pedal time

It feels really strange after so many years taking part in the GM Fundraising charity events to be on the other side of the fence this time around, and to be one of those doing the sponsoring rather than the cycling.

If you’ve somehow missed it, 12 of the industry’s best known women are currently canoeing, abseiling and then cycling in what has been dubbed the #paddle2pedal challenge. They started with a 100 mile canoe along the River Wye, then they’ll negotiate an abseil down the rock face at Symonds Yat, and finish with a 120 mile bike ride back up to Oswestry before the end of the week.

They’re raising yet more much needed funds for the Hope House Hospices which GM Fundraising has supported for so long, and it’s only fitting that they’ll be ending the ride at the charity’s inspirational children’s hospice in Oswestry.

I know everyone in the team has really thrown themselves into it and I’ve seen some very impressive updates on the training regime. There’s loads on social media now about how well they are doing, so check out the Twitter, Facebook and website updates if you want to find out more (@gmfundraising #paddletopedal on Twitter and Facebook and www.gmfundraising.co.uk/paddle2pedal).

Having taken part in plenty of these challenges myself, I know that asking people to sponsor you can sometimes be just as hard as doing the actual ride, so, as a supporter this time, I’ll do it on their behalf. Mila has already donated £1500 to the challenge – if you think you’d like to sponsor any or all of the team as well, the link is here

Thanks very much

Richard
