New Year message – GGP Magazine

It will be in 2017 that the real implications of the Brexit vote will finally be felt in the hardware sector, as price rises come into force virtually across the board, as a result of the fall in the value of the pound against both the dollar and the euro.

Mila had the financial resources to be able to hedge against currency fluctuations for much of 2016 but even we have had to reluctantly introduce surcharges.

In line with our commitment to honesty and fairness though, we have already sent every customer a detailed breakdown of the new surcharges which will be applied from January depending on a series of clearly defined bands and a calculation of exactly how much of the cost impact will be absorbed by Mila within each band.

I think it will be more important than ever for suppliers and customers to be on the same side in the face of rising prices, which are likely to come not just from currency fluctuations but also from increases in material costs.  Certainly, Mila will be working hard with our customers to ensure that there are no nasty surprises, and to identify how we can work together to help them promote the benefits of our quality hardware ranges and most importantly to win business.  Our product development team are already working on new innovations, our service team are refining new initiatives designed to increase competitive advantage, and our award-winning marketing team are helping customers to promote our range more effectively.
