Blog | Richard Gyde, Managing Director
I’ve just been re-reading my blog post from Christmas 2017 and it’s interesting to see how much – and how little – things have actually changed over the past 12 months.
We’re all still facing the interminable challenge of Brexit of course and we’re still seeing rises in commodity prices and currency fluctuations – but perhaps we’ve just had to learn to live with those a little more now.
What is interesting is that last year I talked about how I thought Mila’s unwavering commitment to consistent product quality and reliable, efficient service would stand us in very good stead and I think I’ve been proved correct. We’ve had a pretty good 2018, and our December sales figures are amongst our very best for the whole year, so things are looking very positive.
We haven’t lost sight of the fact that, however easy it is to make price the primary focus when things are tough, it is great service which sets you apart and which keeps customers coming back.
We made value and affordability key drivers in our product development programme and will continue to do that in 2019, but I fundamentally believe that is our service which continues to be our biggest differentiator. Our customers need suppliers who have the will and the capability to support them, and time and time again – whether that’s guaranteed stock availability, on time deliveries or onsite technical support – we have demonstrated that we have both.
Mila will be closing for our annual Christmas break on Friday 21st December and reopening on Wednesday 2nd January, refreshed and ready for 2019, so I’d like to take this opportunity to wish every single one of our customers and all the regular readers of my blog a truly relaxing Festive season and a happy, healthy and successful New Year.
Don’t forget, our order cut-off date for delivery before Christmas is 5pm on Thursday 20th
