I had intended to attend the Glasstalk event last week, but changed my plans in order to attend the funeral of Chris Ashman of Quantum Windows, a fellow industry cyclist who was tragically killed whilst out cycling near his home in Northamptonshire. Our thoughts are with his family.

I have therefore offered Vicki Sanders, Mila’s Internal Sales Manager, the opportunity to post her thoughts on her first Glasstalk event.

“I enjoyed Glasstalk enormously - it was a great opportunity to meet prospective new customers and also to talk to contemporaries about the market as a whole.

“The format of the day was excellent with a mix of structured networking sessions and ‘On the Couch’ forums as well as plenty of time for less formal chats.

“Some of the On the Couch sessions weren’t for me however I can see how valuable they probably were to some of the fabricators and installers who did attend and may have helped to get some of those people there in the first place.

“Lots of people who I met had been at both of the previous events which says a lot about how useful they thought they were and I’d certainly like to attend again, although I suppose if the same people attend every time, then there is a risk that the format might become a bit stale.

“The venue was the Barceló Walton Hall, a country house hotel, well located close to Stratford upon Avon and set in a beautiful Country Park which really enhanced the event.

“Overall, I’d pass on my congratulations to the organisers and say that the event showed an admirable commitment to driving up standards within the industry and to encouraging debate and the sharing of ideas.”
