I talk a lot in the press and with our customers about how we benchmark our performance against the very best businesses in other sectors and not just against our competitors in the fenestration industry.

The true measure of our success came last night when Mila was a finalist in the Innovation category at the Supply Chain Excellence Awards alongside the likes of Virgin Atlantic, EDF Energy, Kimberly Clark and the eventual winners GlaxoSmithKline.

Members of our supply chain team attended the high profile event at the Grosvenor House in London hosted by the BBC’s Jonathan Dimbleby.

It was a real tribute to what has been achieved by this team in recent years under the leadership of our supply chain director Oliver Burgess that Mila Hardware was up there with these big, blue chip names.  Oliver joined Mila from an FMCG background and his approach has certainly helped us to sharpen our performance.

That said, we know there's no room for complacency – we're only ever as good as our last month’s OTIF figures and we've set ourselves very high standards, but we know we're very much on the right path.
